Now, as a tradeswoman, I am behind the scenes. I understand how they did it. Now I want to do it, but my need is different and gives me another passion. As I believe it is the same for any woman who chooses to work in this industry. It is not a 9-5. It is our livelihood. We need to prove to ourselves and everyone and their two cents that we are more than capable. We have to silence them before they question our abilities. So it’s easy to see why we go above and beyond. We push the limits, and they transcend our work. It is unique, polished, confident because it will represent every tradeswoman and us to come.
From now on, it is essential to overcome everything I just spoke about. There should be no need to prove one competency based solely on gender. The desire to create, to succeed, to impress should be a driving factor on its own. I hope in the future, we can normalize women in the construction industry.
